Chope's Bar and Café: A Vibrant Mexican Dining Experience in La Mesa

What a great place. It's easy to find in La Mesa and has great parking. The food is fantastic, especially the chili relleno. This has to be one of the best in all my travels. The price is fair, the service is great and the food... just wow. Enjoy your visit and make the time to drop in.

Taco and Chile relleno were great. Enchiladas weren't spicy at all and I like them spicy. Over all great taste. Would order again and hope for spicy.

I grew up in the area, but had never been to Chope's. I have a few friends that tend to post when they stop in for a visit. I decided to try Chope's for the first time. I was not disappointed at all. The food was very fresh and perfectly seasoned. I now see why so many people like to post about it on fb. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

This place is soooooo good. We've been here many a times. And all their food is scrumdidilyumptious. Today we came for their $1.50 tacos on Taco Thursday. They were amazing. I had 2 red, 2 green, 2 chicken, and 1 beef. And let me tell you, finger lickin' good. Its definitely worth the drive to visit this wonderful and historic place.

What a gem and worth going out of your way to visit this establishment in business since 1909! The bar was fairly crowded for a mid-week afternoon but I was able to find a seat at the bar and before I could sit down free chips and salsa were in front of me. I don't mean just any old salsa either, this salsa was fresh & delicious and boy was it spicy! I couldn't get enough. We opted for a combination plate to try a few things from the kitchen. The enchiladas (red, green or Christmas), chile relleno, & taco were all delicious but the highlight on the plate might have been the beans. Whew, those were incredible! A guy beside me got the nachos which looked out of this world and it took every ounce of my being not to snatch one. Super friendly, super tasty and super affordable. Don't be anywhere near this place and decide to pass on by...

The best Tacos I have ever eaten. My husband has always raved about this place. But this was my first time eating here. My husband ordered Chile Rellenos I tasted a little of his. It was Awesome. PERFECTLY SEASONED. This is a place where the locals frequent. But if you are visiting or passing through the area, it is worth stopping by for Lunch and or dinner. We will certainly be back next time we're in town We live in the Phoenix Arizona area. I highly recommend this place.

I've lived here my whole life and somehow had never heard of this place. I wish I had discovered this place sooner and I will definitely be back. The history is amazing and they love to tell their story. You can tell that the place used to be someone's house. Its so unique and cute, but most of all tasty!!! Everything our table got was delicious! And our server was super friendly.
